Class Descriptions

CLASSES BEGIN THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 6TH!
Mommy & Me Music Class

POSTPONED – Spend an hour enjoying a musical and magical time with your little one and develop friendships at the same time! Mommies and babies will sing, dance and play as they bond with each other and build a sense of community with other mommies and babies. Music Time with your littles will not only soothe and comfort them but will also support brain and learning development. Ages Newborn to 5 years. (Postponed due to low enrollment.)

Musical Theatre Classes

Musical Theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines song, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical are communicated through words, music, movement, and acting. The class will teach all of these elements thru learning performance material that will prepare them to be in a musical in our upcoming shows. They will also learn back stage etiquette and stage performance. Wear comfortable clothing to move in, and closed-toed shoes (such as tennis shoes or jazz shoes–no flip flops or sandals.)

Improvisation Classes, Jr. & Sr. (ages 7-18)

Forgetting a line in a song or monologue can be scary. This class will provide a fun and unintimidating way to get those creative juices flowing when off-script. This class will also teach actors how to build a character and remain in character while on stage. You may need to bring a tissue box to this class. This class is guaranteed to bring tears of laughter to your eyes. Stage confidence and etiquette are also taught in this class.

Musical Theatre Dance

We teach dance with musical theatre in mind, so we cover combos centered around all styles such as Jazz, Lyrical, Tap and Hip Hop. Wear comfortable clothing to move in, and appropriate dance shoes (no flip flops or sandals.)

Character Development
Are you an Anna, Elsa, Gaston, Mad Hatter, Harry or Hermoine in training? In this class, students will develop their character by exploring physical, vocal and emotional aspects that build believable and memorable characters for the stage & beyond. Students will learn how to portray their characters in the most authentic way possible, and how to maintain their characterization in an improvisational format. Throughout the year, this class may provide entertainment for character meet & greets, singalongs and themed parties!
Workshop: Intro to Stage Lighting (Thursdays, Oct. 13th – Nov. 3rd)

This workshop is for anyone interested in lighting and the “behind the scenes” work when it comes to stage production. Four topics will be covered over 4 weeks in these one-hour classes. Recommended for ages 12 & up unless instructor approval is given. Week 1: Intro to Lights and Controlling with DMX; Week 2: Scenes, Chases and Cues; Week 3: Theatre Lighting vs. Concert Lighting; Week 4: Lasers, Effects, Intro to Advanced Lighting. If there is enough interest, we will offer the next level of class in Jan./Feb. 2023.

Workshop: Puppet Theatre (Dates TBD)

In this 4-week class, we will learn the techniques of puppetry and provide opportunities for creative collaboration among the students to produce scenes from a play, as well as a puppet show. This experience will teach the basic techniques of puppetry by creating your own puppet and using it to portray a scene from a novel, story or play. We will also have professional puppets and learn how to use them properly by focusing on hand and stick puppetry. Students will also design the scenery and props for the show.
